Dog Training Lessons
A program of training sessions in your home. Priced on a case-by-case basis depending on your goals and your dog’s skill level.
(Not sure what your dog needs? Get in touch and we can advise you.)
Our Training Philosophy
We use positive reinforcement techniques grounded in canine behavioral science. Using treats, toys, praise, play, and life rewards (being allowed on the couch, getting the leash clipped on, etc.), we tap into what naturally motivates dogs to get the behaviors we like.
Your dog gets all the things he likes and you get an exquisitely behaved dog—without intimidation, force, or punishment.
Nancy’s Training Tips:
Nothing For FreeWant your dog to respond to your commands outside the classroom? Get in the habit of using life rewards, i.e. practicing Nothing For Free.
Before you clip the leash on to go for a walk? Ask for a sit.
Before you throw a ball at the park? Ask for a sit.
Before you allow him to jump on the couch with you? Ask for a sit.Soon your dog’s default response will be to sit—and doing what you ask will make perfect sense to him.
